In July 2014, DSS helped her produce a hit single titled “Try Me” and it brought her viral popularity after Drake the Canadian hip hop rapper quoted lyrics from her song on his Instagram post. She derived her stage name “Dej Loaf” from a shortened form of her first name Deja = “Dej” and “Loafer (which she picked while growing up and very interested in Air Jordan) = “Loaf”.

Dej Loaf Musical CareerĮven though she began singing at a very young age, Deja Trimble actually started her professional musical career in 2011, as a hip-hop artist. Later on, she did her tertiary education at Saginaw Valley State University, where she studied nursing for only three semesters before deciding to concentrate fully on her musical career. Right in high school, she also played basketball at junior varsity level. She graduated from Southern High School in Detroit, in 2009. At a tender age of four, her father was killed leaving her in the care of her mother and grandmother.Īt a tender age of nine, she started composing and writing her own songs lyrics.
